Ah, once again a wonderful pride and wonderful faerie village.

All of us who put intention into the village once again thank you. In particular, I want to thank iii, who took on the lead role this year. He did a great job, even though he had a full weekend of work to do.

And I also want to thank Keer. Keer is the one responsible for all of the fabric and decor and maypole that adorned our village this year. Keer was on the site starting Friday night, and stayed there for the whole weekend decorating and watching over the space until we opened on Sunday.

I'd also like to thank all of the other artists who helped decorate and hold space. And to all the performers who brought their art and beauty to the space.

sssssssss.

Ok, now for the kicker. While Faerie Village is a non-commercial space, and we hate to involve anything involving money when it comes to the space, the reality is that we live in a world where things cost money. All the fabric, the pvc for the maypole, streamers, etc..., did cost us. And one faerie in particular spent money out of his own pocket to cover the expenses. We did consider passing a hat at faerie village, but thought it would be best to keep that kind of green energy out of the space, and so now here I am after the fact asking for any donations to help cover our expenses. In total, this faerie spent roughly $200 of his own. If 10 faeries each chipped in $20, we could get this faerie his money back. And if we do that, we know we'll have a happy fae who will come back to decorate again next year.

As one of the organizers of the village, we can use my paypal account to transfer money. It's my own personal account, that I'm not using for anything else. Any funds put into it will go directly to reimbursement of Faerie Village expenses for 2008. If we happen to get more than the cost to cover his expenses for this year, these funds will go for decor for next year.

My email address to enter into paypal.com is sfaaron26 (at) yahoo (dot) com

Paypal accepts debit cards, credit cards, electronic checks, or bank transfers. You are also welcome to give donations to myself, iii, Keer or Scooter (this years FV producers) directly.

Thanks,
NeonBunny (aka Aaron), and Scooter Pie (aka ScooterX)

I am taking the lead this year on the radical faerie village at SF pride this year. Once again, we hope to transform an urban space during one of the most crowded events in this major city, into a space of magic and fae.

And I'd love your feedback on what you want to see from the faerie village, and what you hope it to be. As well, always looking for performers and participants, especially those who do alternative (ie. not just another techno dj) entertainment that faeries love. Magic work, drumming, acoustic music, and so on. Interested in using the energy of the crowd as part of a ceremony? (just remember organizing a crowd like that during an event like pride is alot like herding cats).

A little feedback on Faerie Freedom Village (aka Radical Faerie Village). The FFV is a commercial free zone in the middle of SF's gay pride. It's been going on for a few years, originally created by Timothy Buttercup, who has left us for the East Coast, and then Blue, who has left us for other realms of existance. Since it's begining, it has doubled in space, and is one of the few spaces at SF pride that has both grass and shade.

Anyways, just thinking ahead. I am cross posting this to some of the other faerie lists on tribe.net, but will be monitoring all the threads.

Faerie Freedom Village (FFV) is a wonderful fae space that we create each year to share with our local faeries, traveling faeries, friends and lovers, and to show the city of San Francisco with radical freedom is all about. As part of the FFV, we create a space where faerie's and friends can share their music, art, magic, dance, storytelling, comedy, performance, voice, and more (anything you can do with a microphone or two). This year, we are eliminating the large stage that we have had in the past, and bringing the show to the level of the people and hopes of creating a better natural space.

All forms of expression are welcome. We will have available a sound system including 4 microphones and a sound board (which we can plug a few extras into).

Please include a little bit about what you would like to do, your background, including a link to any samples of your work if you have any. All are encouraged to apply.

Please submit any information by June 1st to: sfaaron26@yahoo. com
I want to let you all know about an event I'm planning at the Eagle for Sunday, November 6th. Its the Sunday Beer Bust, and that particular Sunday will benefit the Faerie Village at SF Pride.

I could use about five or six faeries (at least!) to help me do the event. Its the week after Halloween, and probably will be cool or cold, so it wont be superbusy, but we need volunteers to help with the money (selling tickets) and with the food (we have to feed 150 hungry men). Additionally, we can provide entertainment if we want. So, if you want to help out, send me an email with the best times/phone numbers to reach you.

And please tell your friends and plan to attend and have some fun. I think it will be a blast to have a bunch of faeries in full faerie drag (whatever that means you YOU) making the Eagle a bit more faerie.
I'd like to thank everyone for bringing their fabulous
though I was exhausted by sunday evening, I had an
Anyway, I'm in the process of writing the wrap-up
report for the pride committee. I'd appreciate any
feedback on what you felt worked or didn't this year.
One of these decisions will be if we should keep the
extra brick area for next year. I'm leaning towards
going back to the just having the grassy area. To me
the brick area seemed to take away from the overall
feeling of intimicacy plus it created a security
nightmare. So tell me what you think. I'm looking

This year we're trying something a little different for Faerie Village. Instead of the usual stage, we're going to have a 16' long "runway". The idea is that anybody who wants to can get up there and "take a walk" (ie, do a turn on the runway, fashion-show style) to show off their drag (or lack of drag, or whatever).

My vision for this is that we'll do it on Sunday, every hour, on the hour. This way the Villager can stop what their doing and take a few minutes to appreciate all the beautiful drag. then back to whatever (whoever) you're doing. So tell your friends, and if you see somebody with some glamour that screams for a good walk, please direct them to Faerie Village runway.

By making it every hour, we can accomodate as many people as are interested, and nobody will need to sign up or anything. just be there when Mickey's hands are both up in the air.

If we have a microphone, we can probably announce who's on the runway.

Papparazzi are invited.

Faerie Freedom Village will be happening during both
days of san francisco pride weekend [June 25/26th]. As usual,
saturday will be a more laid back day where we
decorate, play music, and annoint the space in
preparation to welcome the many visitors "coming" on
sunday.

Jokie will be opening up saturday by playing his
crazy music consisting of yoko ono, pink floyd, zappa,
apocalyptica, yellow, etc. Next, I'll be playing a
memorial set for John Balance of Coil who died this
past year. Pup will be playing a set sometime on
saturday while most of the afternoon still remains
open .

Sunday we'll have DJ Sets by Mermaid, Jamez,
Kittyboy, and Tag. Scooter is organizing a runway so people
can display their fabulous drag on the hour.

We're open to more ideas for art installation. I'd
like to see a alter manifest on the brick area this
year. So anybody willing to help on the alter setup
should contact me. Also other artists wanting to
display their artwork at the village this year
should also send me a msg.

Anyone interested in getting more involved can join
the Faerie Freedom Village yahoo group or the Faerie
Village tribe.

Hope to see you all there
(17 more days)
